I posted about my remodel here. I had a few requests to see pictures of the other rooms in the home. I don’t have before pictures of these areas so I’ll just show you after the remodel was complete.

At this month’s Utah Desginers League Association meeting, designer Jenna Rix was our guest speaker. She has a creative blog and talked to us about the art of blogging. It’s always a great opportunity to share and network with each other.
We also got a chance to talk about UDLA’s charity for the year. We will be helping Utah refugees. We plan to furnish and decorate at least one home for one refugee family. These families come to Utah with nothing and we want to help! Please contact us if you would like to donate furniture, cookware, linens etc. Anything will be greatly appreciated. We are collecting items now and will keep you posted on our progress.

McArthur Park will be turned into ‘McArthur Park Office Plaza’. The two homes just East of McArthur Park (which I owned several years ago) will also be turned into commercial space with parking behind. I am sad to see the interior and beautiful landscaping changed, but I hope for the best! Just a reminder to us all to be involved in our community meetings and let our voices be heard. I had several inquires about what’s happening to the home I designed on 485 South and 1st East in Bountiful. I lived there for several years, so before I show you what’s happening to it I wanted to remind you of what it was.

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to talk to 150 interior design students at Utah State University. I lectured on architecture and design. They were particularly excited to hear about Herm’s Inn, the old abandoned service station on the ‘Island’ in Logan which will be renovated into a bakery. I just love to see the energy in the youth and watch them get excited about their future aspirations. It was a great opportunity to get them excited about the architecture and interior design fields and encourage them to follow their dreams! Special thanks to Adam Nelson for inviting me to speak.
I often look for inspiration in the landscape and surrounding areas of a home. These elements of nature are the inspiration for the color palate of a home I am designing in the Henry Walker Homes, Escapes at Entrada.

The original kitchen area was converted into a laundry and butler's pantry. The new kitchen area sits where part of the existing garage was.

Tip: When remodeling, keep the style of the original home
Tip:Don’t underestimate the power of great landscaping!
BEFORE: Landscaping the backyard was a challenge because of the tight space and challenging retaining wall.
AFTER: I wanted to capitalize on the space and create the feeling of a courtyard. The trees, hedges, and formality of patios gives a courtyard feel.
