Chairs & Tassels

July 30th, 2013

This week I am at the Las Vegas Market helping to feature Chairs & Tassels. Chairs & Tassels is a new company that distributes pieces highlighting the stunning craftsmanship of South America, with tassels made in Brazil and chairs crafted in Argentina. You can check out the Chairs & Tassels website here. The quality and detail in these pieces are exquisite. This is our first time as an exhibitor at the Market and we are hoping to have some great success!

Eco House: Cabinetry

July 25th, 2013

The Eco House is moving right along, and it is exciting to see all the work coming together! Today we have a few photos showing the progression of this project, of which most recently includes cabinet installations. The beautiful interior and cabinetry work of this house was designed by LMK interior design. The fabrication and installation of the cabinetry was executed by Adam Woods Design. Isn’t it looking great?

Landscape Design

July 18th, 2013

I recently did a landscape design for some clients who had purchased a home I designed several years ago. The previous owners had a terrace rock wall just a few feet from the back of the home and my new clients, who have young children, really wanted to see the space put to better use. The goal for this landscaping plan was to open up space for the kids to play as well as create several planting areas to match the canyon type setting. It is looking beautiful and I can’t wait to see it again in a few years when everything has really grown into its space!

The next step will be adding brick along the foundation wall to architecturally tie the planter wall into the house.

Landscape Inspiration

July 16th, 2013

I came across these images I snapped on my phone while I was visiting California last month at the Venice Home & Garden tour. I love that I can get not only architectural and design inspiration, but landscaping ideas as well. Check out these colossal garden features!

I was impressed with the detail in even the smallest of spaces including these charming paths. So great to see plants incorporated in tight spaces. The last path was made of salvaged concrete reset with a gravel compound between sections.
I thought this was a creative way to display your house number.

And it wouldn’t be the Venice tour without art featured in the courtyards and even front entry of homes!

HWH Envision Series

July 11th, 2013

Working with Henry Walker Homes I am also creating a Salt Lake Area Envision Series. The idea was to create something small with character for tight land areas. The goal was to maximize living space vertically. I have created 5 different plans and elevations (some with a standard 2 car garage and others with a tandem 2 car garage).

The Escape plans were so successful that Henry Walker Homes asked me to create semi-custom homes that are about 1,000 square feet larger for the next phase of development. To create a more custom feel, architecturally I changed how each of the plans are laid out, adjusted garage positions and angles, and added several features including curved and expandable glass walls that open to the outdoors. I designed six new plans, here are a few of the elevation and floor plan options. I am excited to see them built!
