DuMc Place is just blocks from our studio so I visit the job site often. It is exciting to see these townhouses develop. There is still a unit for sale and now would be a great time to purchase and get involved with the beautiful interior finishes I am selecting. The town houses are located on 300 South in Bountiful between 1st and 2nd West.

DuMc Place Demolition

This morning demolition is underway to clear the lot for DuMc Place. It was fun to see neighbors walking by telling their memories of the old home, excited to see what will become of the lot next!

I salvaged a few more pieces to incorporate into the new structure including this old claw footed tub which I am excited to have restored!

Those of you who know me well know I love to preserve history and create meaning in design. In the post below you can see that the charming yellow house has to be removed in order for the new triplex to be built. I have salvaged a few of the charming elements of this old home to incorporate into the new structure. This original hardware will create a unique connection between the past and the future!

Downtown living has its perks being central to commerce as well as historic areas. I am currently working on plans to be developed in downtown Bountiful. The concept was to build three town homes each with a unique and individual style, similar to European style living. The lot size creates a narrow and deep living space for each home, also typical to downtown living. I designed the homes keeping the fit and scale of the neighborhood in mind so as not to have the roof heights taller than the original homes.

The home on the lot below will be removed and we hope to see this project completed in Spring of 2014.

The UDLA Reception held last night was an exceptional event. We were honored to have UDLA members, Excellence in Design award recipients, Margret Shuff owner of Utah Style and Design, a representative from the clipper, and other community members present. Eatery 1025 was an ideal venue and provided us with delicious food. Among those we honored was Amy Wylie from the Refugee Services who helped us arrange details for our Refugee Housing Project. Thank you to all who attended and helped make this event a huge success!

Amy Wylie, with her husband, accepts her UDLA award.

Eggs in the City is one of my new favorite places to eat in Salt Lake City. It has a charming atmosphere, delicious food, and is located on 1675 East and 1300 South. This is a group that we will be working with on the Herms Inn restaurant project in Logan.

Tulie Bakery

Tulie Bakery in Salt Lake City has such a great combination of modern and old architecture. They  have combined existing brick with slick contemporary windows and doors. Inside continues with a great combination of materials. I love the rustic tables paired with modern chairs.

Not only is the structure and atmosphere inspiring, it is filled with delicious desserts. I would recommend, my favorite, the chocolate bouchon.
