Almost a New Year!

One of my must haves for a new year is the stendig calendar from Crate & Barrel. I have had one in my studio year after year. I’ve already got mine ordered for 2012. How exciting to have a Crate & Barrel in Utah now!

Our 2011 calendar currently hangs in Linda's corner of the studio!

Gift Giving

Finding a way to give something of yourself makes for successful gift giving. This year I have taken many great photographs on my travels and turned them into pieces of art for model homes.  You can find photos that inspire you and create your own pieces of art for those you love. What  a great gift!

Much of the art work in our Eagle Pointe model home was from my trip to California

I took some great landscape photographs of St. George and used them as art work in our Entrada Studio/Model.

Contact me if you are interested in purchasing a copy of this artwork. Thanks!

Christmas in Entrada!

I took a quick trip to Entrada over the holiday weekend and infused some holiday cheer into our studio/model home. I love when design and decor have meaning beyond the visual. Many of the items I use to decorate with have memories associated with them… pieces collected from my travels, places I’ve lived, or gifts from family and friends.

Welcome to my office! I wanted to create a great space to meet with clients. I love creating architectural niches. By adding a barn door a niche was created as well as a way to lock off my office from the rest of the house.

I added a column to represent timeless, basic architectural detail. All spaces should be detailed with appropriate proportions. This column is a way to relate these surroundings to the proportion of the rest of the space with its windows and arches.

The table I designed works so well in the space. You can see it’s history and construction here.

I am thrilled to have a space to meet with my St. George clients! If you are interested in a consultation and are located in the St. George area, please contact me.

I posted about my color inspiration for this home in April, it is so great to see it finished!

To integrate nature into the architectural organization and detail of this home, I had the concrete color and grid continue outside into the courtyard. By using a color similar to the dirt it extends the space from the great room, to the courtyard, out into the landscape around the home.

Notice how the step detail that started with the exterior continues into the interior. The smaller set of cabinetry is finished in a metallic automotive paint.

I am so happy with the bed I designed. You can see the process of it being made here.

The wallpaper on the ceiling of the master bathroom is a true Arts & Crafts paper designed in the 20′s.

Each of the home plans I designed for Entrada include a Casita for guests.

Photos of the office portion of the home coming soon!

Our St. George studio/model home is finally done! Notice the architectural ‘step’ detail, inspired by the unique landscape of St. George. This detail starts with the exterior of the home and continues throughout the interior.

This home is in the Henry Walker Homes Entrada development that I was lucky to design all the homes plans for. These stock plans are so perfect for this area but of course I couldn’t resist adding further customizations.

This shot is of the outdoor cooridor leading up to the front door.

I love the flow of indoor to outdoor living and wanted to create several areas for this. I added mirrors to bring the color of the blue sky in and open up the small courtyard.

Spruce Up Your Curb Appeal

Happy Halloween! The holidays are a great reminder to give some extra attention to the entry of our homes. An easy way to spruce up the curb appeal of your home is to paint the front door or change the hardware. A simple kickplate and new hardware can really make a statement! I recently painted my front door a dark green.

Earlier this year it was painted blue!

Because children are an important part of every family, when designing a home I love to include a space for them to work. Creating a functional space can be as simple as adding a smaller desk area to the family office, incorporating desk space in a common area such as the kitchen or, adding a working space into the playroom.

Utah Style & Design

A couple months ago I showed you the loft in a home I remodeled. It was featured in the latest issue of Utah Style & Design. Read on for insight into one of my favorite shades of white and my tips on getting the right tone for your space.

I posted about my remodel here. I had a few requests to see pictures of the other rooms in the home. I don’t have before pictures of these areas so I’ll just show you after the remodel was complete.

These two pictures are inside the guest house above the garage.
