Eco House

February 1st, 2012

I just got the renderings for a home I designed in Springdale at the mouth of Zions Canyon. I have loved this project! Everything about this house was designed to fit into the environment. To build in this location it is required that the existing natural features are not disturbed. The house is positioned on the lot to take into account large rocks and trees and a natural wash. The builder, Valasa Construction, will also have to take special care during construction to preserve as much of the natural environment as possible. The house is eco friendly with geothermal heating and solar panels.  To allow the exterior of the home to blend into the natural surroundings I used limestone plaster (may look like stucco in the renderings) and stone. I also designed the roof lines to mimic the cliffs.

Only plants that are native to the area are allowed in the landscaping.

Front door to main house.

The house along with the casita (on the left) are centered around the beautiful courtyard.

The casita is complete with a garage for guests.

You can see part of the outdoor kitchen. The ledge to the left is actually a pass-through into the indoor kitchen!

Great decks lend way to the amazing views.
