Custom Lighting in Brazil

January 17th, 2013

Brazil is such a wonderful country. There are so many old world craftsmen. Salvador Salerno, his son, and two assistants are a few worth blogging about. This is a third generation lighting company that has been making molds and casts for custom light fixtures.

Note the kiln that is used to make the castings. As you know I love history and anything hand made. This fine company helped contribute to the wonderful charm of the São Paulo temple by making my custom designed light fixtures. The magic of casting and hand finishing is truly a dying art. I love the element of the hand from a human to create beautiful objects for any type of project. Hand made objects are what I believe make any space comfortable and inviting.

Next time you are in an architectural space, note the feeling you get from it-
If there is a warmth about it ask about the objects in the space. I believe you will find that those objects are hand made.
